12-16-2009 The Presidents of the Riverside and San Bernardino County PONY leagues were collected in the Redlands Police Conference room for the SOUTHEAST REGION President's meeting on Wednesday, Dec 16, 2009. Region Director, Wayne Young covered a broad spetrum of topics in this meeting. Steve Lange, the So Cal Palomino Div. Director was asked to provide some insight on the changes being effected with the PALOMINO and COLT programs. Steve provide a broad review of the changes that PONY Baseball is making in these programs in the coming season. He emphasized the desire to provide a program that could attract and meet the needs of high school baseball programs as well as travel teams to play in the 2010 Tournaments. He feels that the program can offer them a great way to get quality games for their teams and then enter the Tournaments which will lead to some high profile games that will expose the players to both College and MLB scouts. Steve indicated he is developing a plan to meet with the high school in the Riverside and San Bernadino County areas, and asked the League Presidents to join him in this effort. He wants to explain the Palomino and Colt programs and try to help them see the advantages of being in these programs. His focus at this time is to find ways to get these options in front of the CIF team managers to consider for their post season development plans, and explain how they can minimize their cost by participating in Pony post season programs.
